Our junior club caters for primary and intermediate school aged children (Year 0 to Year 8), and also supports the Girls Softball and Girls Hardball grades through to Year 11.
From there, girls move into the women's division.
Grades are based on the current school year your child is in at the start of the season (i.e. October 2024).
Girls can play both mixed grades and girls-only cricket. Junior grades are based on the current school year your child is in at the start of the season (i.e. October 2024).

Mixed Grades
All junior club teams allow for both boys and girls to play alongside each other. You can find out more about the Mixed grades in the Junior Grades pages.
Girls Soft Ball Year 2-4
This a new Girls Soft Ball grade for girls in school years two to four, teams will have six players and the playing format will be similar to the NZC Girls Smash programme. The league plays on Sunday mornings from 10am during the cricket season.
Girls Soft Ball Year 5-8
The Girls Soft Ball grade is soft ball cricket for girls in school years five to eight. The league plays on Sunday mornings from 10am during the cricket season.
Pairs cricket format is played and games take approximately 90 minutes.
Girls Hard Ball Year 7-11
This season we will be offering two grades:
Girls Hardball
A development female pathway grade for those new to hardball cricket, or who are less confident hardball players. 16 over pairs and T20 formats (with a 6-ball grace period) are played during the season on Saturday afternoons, typically from 2.00pm
Premier Girls Hardball
For girls who have previously played hardball cricket in the Mixed Junior or Girls Hardball grades, or a combination of both, or are confident new cricketers. T20 and 30 over formats (no grace period) are played during the season on Saturday afternoons, typically from 2.00pm
Women’s Division 1
The Women's Division 1 grade is for our top, competitive female players in Wellington. The Saturday grade competes in both Maureen Peters Plate and Joy Lamason Trophy competitions.
Women’s Division 2
The Women’s Division 2 grade is for competitive female players in Wellington. The Sunday grade competes in both one day and T20 formats including finals.
Women’s Division 3
The Division 3 grade competes in a T20 competition at 2pm on Saturdays. The social grade features healthy competition and a fun environment to play cricket in.
